Custom Web Design

If your brand is a person (which it kind of is), then your website is its home. It should speak to everything your brand is and what you can offer while being insanely inviting and, basically, totally irresistible to your dream client.

So let's paint the walls, hang some artwork, and decorate the crap out of it...within your branding guidelines, of course. This is going to be awesome.

You already know (hopefully) that your branding should be working for you, rather than just with you. But did you know your website is one of (if not THE) most important parts of your brand and the customer experience? Because it absolutely is. Oh, and UX? That's industry speak for user experience. (Hopefully you also have a delightful song from the 90's wedged firmly in your brain. You're welcome.)

Whether it originates from a business card, networking events, social media, a referral, or a random search, all roads ultimately lead back to your website. No pressure, right?

Did you also know the average person will spend less than 15 seconds on your site before they decide to click away or linger and scroll for more? Fif. Teen. Seconds. That's how long you have to captivate your audience and capture their attention.

Is your website a cohesive extension of your brand? Does it scream you while commanding the attention of your target market? Does it do all that in less than 15 seconds? If not, or if you're not sure, let's chat.

let's talk about UX, baby...

Dean, Omar, Branham, and Shirley, LLP, also known as DOBS+, is a law firm in Dallas, TX dedicated to making their community a safer one.

While working at Brass Tacks Collective, I was given the opportunity to take part in the design of their new website, later partnering with Lizbet Palmer (a resident designer and all-round bad ass) to continue the development.

Our goal was to utilize their new branding elements and create a website that was sleek and modern, but also approachable and extremely accessible (especially from the mobile side) to their potential and current clients.

While the project was put on hold and is not yet live, you can still see our work here, via Invision, complete with working links and all.

I have to tell you...working with Stephanie Dement on the branding and web design for Ally Culture Consulting, LLC has been one of my favorite projects ever. I am a fierce LGBTQ+ ally, and the work Stephanie is doing is so incredible and so desperately needed.

Ally Cutlure Consulting, LLC is all about educating and empowering businesses, schools, churches, and other organizations to create welcoming and inclusive environments for all.

The website design and build is still in progress, but we've got a contact / landing page up and ready if you want to reach out and learn more about Stephanie's amazing work and how you can help.

Another one of my projects while at Brass Tacks Collective was the development of a website for Go Green Dallas. This movement focuses on the preservation of the Trinity Forest and the call for it to be converted into the Trinity Nature Park.

This website was all about creating calls to action and educating the citizens of Dallas about the benefits of and need for Dallas to go green.

Currently, the website is operating under different artistic and technical direction, but you can see the original designs and concepts here.

Stephen is a West Coast Swing Pro (but don't get it twisted, he's multi talented and faceted for sure), and he needed some help. His previous website was birthed on wordpress but wasn’t quite complete or cohesive, and I am crazy thankful he allowed me to talk him into trusting me and taking his site over to Showit. There was just one catch...we had to have about 5 pages live in six days. Yikes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love a good challenge, and I've always said: I don't just work well under pressure, I flourish. And I'm happy to report, those 5 pages were up and running by the deadline.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now I get to focus on building out the rest of his site, which I'm totally stoked about. You should go check it out, regardless of whether or not you're a dancer. Stephen is a dope dude and speaks my favorite language: authenticity. So honored to be designing for him, and excited to see what's to come.

Truth be told, the website I am most proud of is the one you're on right now. It was my first on a new platform (Showit is phenomenal, by the way), and it's a far cry from my very first website.  It's everything my brand is and screams "me." Often times, quite literally. But that's exactly as it should be. With intentional and authentic design, I immediately attract and reel in my target market while weeding out those who aren't for me or me for them.

Do your branding and website do that for you? If not, why not hit me up and see if we're a good fit and if I can help?

admittedly, I am quite fawned of my site...

You're ready to have a website that exudes your brand and establishes a definitive presence.
Basically, all that and a bag of chips.

You've either seen or had the templatized websites, but you know you need and want one that's all custom and all you.
From blah to booyah, my friend.

You don't even want to consider visiting the world of coding or font-end/back-end/full stack developers.
It is totally ok if you have no idea what I'm talking about.

You want a website that immediately connects with your ideal client and practically does the work for you.
Your website promotes you 24/7. Talk about your MVP...

You have a story about your business and your why, and you're ready to share it with anyone and everyone who will listen.
Maybe even a few who won't.

You're ready to make a long-term investment in your brand and your business.

You're ready for a creative to take your ideas and run with them.
(Ok, so I don't run, but I'll totally grab 'em and briskly walk away.)

are you ready to get started?

LET'S DO THIS.

01.

01. Consultation

First things first, let's meet (over the phone, video chat, in person, whatever floats your boat) so we can chat and you can tell me all about your business and the story behind it! This gives us both a chance to ask all the questions and make sure we're like Goldilocks and just the right fit.

02.

02. design homework

Yep, you've got some homework. But don't worry, I do too. Once the contract is in and your non-refundable deposit is received, it's time to get to work. You'll receive a questionnaire that I'll need before we get started. I'll be taking the information you've provided + the strategy and research homework I've done on my end to hone in on a design and formulate a plan of attack. A plan to compliment and elevate your brand while beckoning to your dream clientele.

03.

03. development & design

We've done our homework, now it's time for me to really get crackin'. I'll use the research and strategy to begin creating your website's home page. We'll have plenty of check-ins along the way to make sure we're on the right track. Once the home page is complete and right where we want it, I'll get started on the rest of your site.

04.

04. review & refine

During the design process, we'll be in frequent contact and will be getting each page just right. Then it's on to the next one, rinse, and repeat. Getting the home page designed and finalized will lay the foundation for the rest of the pages, but you'll also have three chances for revisions. We can certainly do more, but they'll be done at an hourly rate. Then, before you know it, your new site will be kick ass and launch ready!

05.

05. booyah!

It's definitely time to celebrate. You have a shiny new website to show off, and we're going to make sure everyone knows it. I'll make sure you get some one-on-one training on your new site and the Showit platform. Plus, big, huge, massive shout out and online props from me on the launch date. Time to party like it's 1999.

the process

Do you use a specific web design platform?
Yep, I sure do. Showit is a super customizable platform that's easy to change and edit once we get you all set up.

Do I have to pay to use Showit?
Yes, you will need to purchase a subscription before we begin with your website. But don't worry, friends, it's super affordable and totally worth it. You can check out their packages here, and I'm happy to help you decide which one is best for you.

So you said Showit was easy to edit. Is that really true? Will you be able to help me?
Absolutely, to both questions. There might be a bit of a learning curve, as with anything new, but you can totally do it. Once you're ready for launch, we'll block out some time for me to walk you through everything. And trust me, the guys and gals over at Showit are a gold mine of knowledge, resources, and help, so they totally have your back if you need a little extra support.

What if I have products I want to sell on my site?
We can definitely talk about that during our consultation. If it's something you want to add to your project, we can add that to your proposal.

What about blogs?
A custom solo post and blog page design are part of your web design, so no worries there. And if you have blog posts you've already written, I'll work with the rad Showit folks to migrate your posts to your new site.

What if I either don't want to do my web updates or can't seem to figure it out?
We can definitely talk about that, but my plan for you is to be able to maintain your site without having to pay for additional design or retainer fees.

Why is it so expensive?
So there's the final product, but there's also research, strategy, and all the hours that go into the design of a custom website that includes all your branding elements. Let's be honest: websites takes time. Not like 10 or 15 hours either. Think 30-40 hours...to start. At least, they do when they're done right (IMO). And like branding, you're ultimately investing in way more than a website. You're investing in one-on-one consulting and expertise to produce something no one else can replicate quite the same way. Again, it's an investment, for sure. So I guess it depends on if you're looking for a short-term bargain or a long-term investment. Ya dig?
