In the Harry Potter universe, Abraxans (ah-brax-ins) are “giant palomino horses with wings and a taste for whiskey” (courtesy of Pottermore). Now, when J.K. Rowling says giant, she means it. Like, the size of an elephant. They are also said to be extremely strong and require forceful handling. Extremely strong, require forceful handing, and a taste for whiskey…hmmm. I do believe that’s familiar to me. It’s also believed/speculated that the name for these amazing winged horses stemmed from Greek and Roman Mythology (I typically reference Greek). There were many immortal horses in mythology, usually from the line of the Anemoi, also known as the wind-gods who drew Zeus’s chariot. Abraxas was one of the four immortal horses of the sun god, Helios, or, in Roman mythology, the goddess of the dawn, Aurora.
I’ve always been more than mildly obsessed with horses, an obsession that has only increased with age. I’m also drawn to wings and feathers. So it’s not hard to see why I’d be immediately drawn to a winged horse, especially when it's tied to Harry Potter and mythology. It's also incredibly fun to say in conjunction with the word “relaxed.”
And as to the adjective in the name, that’s fairly self-explanatory. Everything I create is completely organic and intended to aid or encourage relaxation, if only for a minute. Be it mentally, physically, or totally. Taking a break and stealing a moment for ourselves isn't just nice, it's necessary. Remember: you can't pour from an empty cup.
So, with all that, welcome to The Relaxed Abraxan! If you have any questions, shoot me an email! And if you want to order anything, click here! These goodies can also make great gifts and party/shower favors. Think: Christmas, birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, bridesmaids boxes...you get the idea! And if you don't, there are some pictures of previously done custom projects at the bottom of the page!
Stay relaxed, my friends.
I'm obsessed with candles. No, really. I first tried my hand at making them years ago to give as Christmas presents. Because who doesn't love a great smelling, long-burning candle?? Oh, and my favorite? The eucalyptus spearmint, hands down. Talk about your insta-calm.
All candles are made with soy/paraffin wax blend and scented with essential oils and fragrance oils. Burn time is approximately 6 hours
Therapeutic grade essential oils: allspice, bergamot, cedarwood, clary sage, eucalyptus, jasmine, lavender, lemon, peppermint, rose, sandalwood, spearmint, sweet almond, vanilla
Fragrance oils: eucalyptus spearmint, lemon chiffon, apple cinnamon spice, Christmas traditions

This stuff is magic. It's made with all kinds of natural and organic goodness, and it smells and feels amazing. My favorite uses are on my lips and for my cuticles. Honest confession: I'm ridiculously picky about my chapstick. I used the same brand for years, and if I ever left the house without it? Travesty. So I was probably more skeptical of mine than anyone else ever dreamt of being. Second honest confession: I only use this now. 100% true story. Oh, and they last forever. My current jar? Three months in and I'm almost halfway done.
Ingredients: 100% natural yellow beeswax, 100% pure unrefined shea butter, organic unrefined coconut oil, vitamin E oil, therapeutic grade peppermint essential oil

For those times when hot water alone just won't cut it. Give yourself a little "calgon, take me away" moment. Pairs great with a soothing cup of tea or a glass of wine! My current favorite is the coconut lime. It's pretty awesome.
Ingredients: epsom salts with shea butter, pure organic sodium bicarbonate (highest quality baking soda), coarse grain Mediterranean sea salt, Dead Sea salt, coconut oil, essential oils
Scents (all natural or therapeutic grade essential oils): coconut lime, tropical mango, lavender, eucalyptus spearmint (to calm and relax), lavender bergamot (to relax), lemon rosemary (to clear the mind), geranium lavender rose (to calm), orange clove cedarwood lemon (to uplift, strengthen, and reduce stress)

Exfoliate, moisturize, breathe deep. This stuff is great for all three, and it's all natural/organic. And if you're wanting a pop of color, the food coloring is FDA approved, gluten free, and Kosher. The mint sugar scrub is to die for, and the steam from the shower will not only serve to bring out those oils even more, but your bathroom will smell amazing! Use once or twice a week, and a little bit goes a long way!
Ingredients: white granulated sugar, coconut oil, vitamin E oil, essential oils (some scrubs use brown sugar as well)

I know, I know...you've been reading, you're curiosity is peaked, and now you want to try them all. Fear not, good people! For it is within your grasp...
Ok, real talk. In this nifty little sample kit you'll get a 1oz eucalyptus mint candle, a 5mL jar of the peppermint balm, 2oz of mint sugar scrub, and 1 "dose" of coconut lime bath salts. Pretty sweet, little deal, huh? I knew you'd like it. May the calm be with you.
Calm kit - $7.50
Always trim your wicks.
Ever notice black smoke coming from your candle or the build up of soot around the container (or maybe on the wall behind the candle)? Usually accompanied by a mushroom looking wick? Yeah, that means your wick is too long.
Cut between 1/4 and 1/8 of an inch each time you burn. Voila! No more smoke or soot.
Let the candle burn long enough for the wax to melt allllllll the way across.
If you don't let your candle achieve "full melt" status, you'll start to see a tunneling effect. That is, the center continues to melt down, but the sides don't. Consequences? You'll lose hours of olfactory awesomeness and, depending on the size of the candle and chosen fire-starter, might start playing the game of "can I reach the wick and get it lit before burning myself" game.
Keep your candle away from moving air.
I know, "duh," right? Ok, but really. Aside from the obvious (the moving air extinguishing your aromatic flame), the flame blowing about all willy nilly can cause those unsightly black marks on your container as well. Pair that with an untrimmed wick? Pandamonium, I tell you.
Pan. da. monium.
These boxes were filled with an 8oz eucalyptus mint candle, an 8oz peppermint scrub, a large bath coconut lime bath bomb, two 5mL jars of peppermint balm, and two 1 oz tubes of coconut lime bath salts. The coloring for the bath bomb, sugar scrub (tinted blue), silver painting on boxes, and succulent accent tied in the wedding colors of dusty blue, dusty rose, and sage, with accents of silver/pewter. The lace tie finished off the proposal box!
Did someone say Breakfast at Tiffany's? The guests at this super fun bridal shower were treated to 8oz candles in either lemon chiffon or eucalyptus mint. The silver tins were decorated with pearls, black and teal tulle, and black/clear diamond accents on top. Because, of course, dahling!
It's darn near a fact that everyone loves a good candle. But pairing it with a fabulous sugar scrub? Perfect. These 16oz candles smell just like Christmas. Which is probably why the oil is named "Christmas Traditions." The glass jars were decorated with cinnamon sticks (which just adds to the heavenly smell), green twine, and a cute, little, plaid Christmas moose. The 8oz sugar scrubs were tinted a very pale mint color, matching their incredible minty smell (thanks to the therapeutic grade peppermint oil)! Natural twine, a little candy cane, and a jingle bell added that final touch of holiday cheer.
This little guy (and about 30 of his friends) made their way to a baby shower to be given out as favors. All scented with lavender lemon or eucalyptus mint (I'm telling you, it's the favorite), tied with twine in the colors of the baby's room, and a tag with the following: "Here is a candle for you to light, once Baby X has arrived. With the flicker of the flame, please say a prayer in baby's name." How sweet is that?
"I was recently lucky enough to be gifted some handmade treats from The Relaxed Abraxan in a Bridesmaid Gift Box. My first impression upon opening my gift box was the incredible fresh and relaxing scent. I immediately had the feeling of being at the spa, preparing for my massage (unfortunately that massage did not come with the box, LOL). I was drawn to the lip balm first, which I must say is still my favorite item in the box. Not only do my lips hold the moisture for what seems like hours past what my usual gloss would provide, the peppermint is so refreshing and cooling. As a dance instructor, my body looks forward to long, hot baths of Epsom Salts and Baking Soda...not very glamorous, but needed. The Bath Bomb and Salts were exactly what my body needed coming home from hours of teaching and what sometimes feels like a physical beating on my old muscles. Alongside my Sugar Scrub and Scented Candle, I am able to turn my lights down and transport into my happy place of relaxation and bliss. I love this product, and I love everything it stands for!"

“I first received a candle as a party favor and it smelled delicious! The scent lasted even after I blew the candle out, and it smelled like the flowers were really there blooming in my kitchen. Since then I have had the pleasure of using the bath salts, body scrub, and lip balm and they are all soothing and yummy smelling. I love every little thing from this company and will be a repeat customer for life!”
